We sat down with opera singer, Anna Netrebko at the occasion of the release of her latest album, Verismo. Trusted friend of Chopard for many years, she shared with us exciting memories and some insights about the opera music.
You have been a trusted friend of Chopard for many years, what are your most exiting memories? What is your favourite collection?
I have many wonderful memories with Chopard– we’ve done several events together including a charity concert in Geneva and post-opera gathering in New York. One of the most amazing pieces I’ve worn was a unique necklace for the 2014 Life Ball in Vienna– the body guard never left my side! As a staple, I love the circular earrings that all the same stone: diamonds, sapphires, or amethyst.
For those of our followers who are not familiar with your music, how do you describe what you do?
I am an opera singer. We don’t have microphones or amplification in opera houses, so we have very strong technique to be heard. The training for this type of singing is developed over many, many years. In most cases, the music I perform is over 100 years old– it is always a beautiful challenge to bring these timeless pieces to life.
You have just released a new album, Verismo, what can you tell us about it? Have you planned a series of concerts?
The album is a preview of roles that I will be doing in the near future and working on adding to my repertoire. I will sing Manon Lescaut in New York this season; Tosca, Maddalena in Andrea Chénier, and Adriana Lecouvreur in future season; and maybe Turandot one day! My husband Yusif Eyvazov, who is featured on the album, and I will be touring internationally singing music from the album. We’ll be in Moscow, Paris, Calgary, Los Angeles, and more!
